Abstract
This research has been conducted to know whether there is significant effect of using direct learning model toward students’ achievement on writing poetry at X class of SMK Swasta Teruna Padangsidimpuan. Here, this research is taken by experimental research design with 215 population. Then sample is taken by simple random sampling technique and it shows that there are 32 students belong to be sample. In gaining the data, observation and test are taken to be technique for collecting data. Then the analysis data is completed with descriptive and statistical techniques. By having the data, it can be found that the students have average on writing poetry about 67.5 (pre-test). Moreover, the setudents have average about 70.9 on writing poetry (post-test). Then the using of direct learning model has been well-used on teaching methodology. Therefore, it can be found that there is sifnificant effect of using direct learning model toward students’ achievement on writing poetry. In which, the data of statistical analysis shows that tcount is higher than ttable or 6.25 > 2.75.
