Abstract
The purpose of this study is to know the meaning of connotation and denotation of Amaedola (figurative language) in the Nias traditional wedding ceremony in Parjalihotan Baru Village, Pinangsori sub-district, Central Tapanuli district. The research methods used verification qualitative research while the instruments used observation, hermemeutics, interviews and documentation. The data validity technique used triangulation. Data analysis techniques in this study included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study showed that Amaedola in the Nias traditional wedding party in Parjalihotan Baru Village, Pinangsori sub- district, Central Tapanuli district there are 16 Amedola and each of the amedola sentences has a word that means denotation and connotation. Furthermore, there are 12 meanings of denotation and 17 meaning of connotation.
