Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of the structure of pantun by seventh grade students of SMP Swasta Tiga , Barus sub - district. The purpose of this research is to find out about diction, imagination, concrete words and rhymes in pantun. The location of this research is carried out at Jalan Perjuangan No.55 Merged Hasang, Barus District. This research is classified as library research with a qualitative research approach. The results of this study shows there are 21 pantun by students, while the structure contained in the writings of students' rhymes contains word choice diction which contains considerations of meaning, the arrangement of sounds that have a relationship between the lines. There is an image consisting of the image of seeing and feeling. There are concrete words that can imagine events/conditions and there are rhymes based on the sound of the words in the rhyme line.
