Abstrak

This study aims to know whether there is any influence of using the suggestion-imagination learning method on the ability to write poetry at the tenth grade students of MIA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Padang Sidempuan. The approach of the research is experimental by applying one group pretest posttest design. The sample were 23 students who were taken by using purposive sampling technique from 68 students. Data collection techniques used questionnaire and performance test. The results showed the average of questionnaire of  using suggestion-imagination learning method was 3.5 (very good category), the average of ability to write poetry before using  suggestion-imagination learning method was 67 (enough category) and after using  suggestion-imagination learning method was 72 (good category). The results of the paired sample test showed  the significant score was 0.001 and this score is smaller than 0.005 (0.001 <0.005). It means there is any influence of using the suggestion-imagination learning method on the ability to write poetry at the tenth grade students of MIA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Padang Sidempuan.
