Abstrak

This research aims to describe how the nature learning method was used in writing poetry, students' abilities before and after using the nature learning method in writing poetry, whether there was any significant influence of using the nature learning method on the ability in writing poetry at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan. This research used quantitative approach by applying experimental methods (one group pretest posttest design). Sample consisted of 24 students and they were taken by using purposive sampling techniques. Questionnaires and performance tests were used in data collection. The results of this research were 1) the use of the nature learning method in writing poetry had an average of 3.89 (very good category), 2) students' ability in writing poetry before using the nature learning method was 58.45 (poor category) and after using the nature method learning was 75.87 (good category), and 3) the t- test results showed that the t-table score was less than t-count (1.717<4.405). It means, there was significant influence of using the nature learning method on the ability in writing poetry in writing poetry at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan.
