PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE MAKE A MATCH TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA CERPEN SISWA KELAS XI DI SMA NEGERI 5 PADANGSIDIMPUAN

This research aimed to know whether there was any significant influence between applying of the make a match type cooperative learning model on the short story reading skills at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan. The type of research was quantitative with a one group pretest post test design. The population in this study was all the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan, the total number 173 students and the sample was taken by using a purposive sampling technique with a total of 27 students. Data collection used interviews, observations, questionnaires and description tests. The research results obtained were 1) the average of applying the make a match type cooperative learning model was 4.21 (very good category), 2) the average of students' short story reading skills before applying the make a match type cooperative learning model was 60, 62 (enough category), and the average of students' short story reading skills after applying the make a match type cooperative learning model was 70.66 (good category), and 3) statistical inferential calculations showed that there was any significant influence between applying of the make a match type cooperative learning model a match on the short story reading skills at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan.
