Abstrak

 This research aimed to determine whether there was any significant influence of using animated video media (canva) on the explanatory text writing skills at the eleventh grade students of MIA 3 SMA Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan. This type of research was quantitative by applying one group pretest posttest design. The population in this study was all the eleventh grade students of MIA at SMA Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan and sample was taken by using using a random sampling technique, totally 35 students. Data collection used interviews, observations, questionnaires and performance tests. The research results showed 1) the average the use of animated video media (canva) was 3.0 (very good category), 2) the average skill in writing explanatory text before using animated video media (canva) was 63.8 (category sufficient), and after using animated video media (canva)  was 78.6 (good category), and 3) based on the paired sample t-test, Sig. (2-tailed) was smaller than 0.05 (0.253<0.05). It means there was any significant influence of using animated video media (canva) on the explanation text writing skills at the eleventh grade students of MIA 3 SMA Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan.
