Abstrak

This research aims to see the effect ofCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) to students’ writing of modern poem ability at the tenth grade students  of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun. This study was experimental method. The population is the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun consists of 200 students. Purposive  sampling technique was done to take the sample. The sample is 40 students. The data is analyzed trough two ways, descriptive analysis and statistic inferential analysis. Based on descriptive analysis, the average score of using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition is 3.32, it is in “very good” category. Than the students’ ability in writing modern poem ability before using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition is (pretest) is 62.50 in “enough” category. After using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition, the students’ average score is 76.12 in “good’ category. Based on analysis of the data, ttest was 8.72. While ttable was 1.68 or (8.72<1.68). It means that the hypothesis of this research was accepted. In other words there is an effect ofCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) to students’ writing of modern poem ability at the tenth grade students  of SMA Negeri 1 Sibabangun.
