Abstrak

The research aims to know whether there is a significant influence of using cooperative learning model of jigsaw type (expert team model) on students’ writing discourse reading ability at the eighth grade students of SMP Swasta Fatima 2 Sibolga. The research was conducted by applying experimental research with 32 students as the sample and they were taken by using cluster sampling from100 students. Test and questionnaire were used in collecting the data and the data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found: (a) the average of students’ writing discourse reading ability before using jigsaw type was 56 (less category) and after using jigsaw type was 75.96 (good category). Furthermore based on inferential statistics by using ttest one tail, it could be found ttable was less than tcalculated (2.04 < 5.60). It means there is a significant influence of using cooperative learning model of jigsaw type (expert team model) on students’ writing discourse reading ability at the eighth grade students of SMP Swasta Fatima 2 Sibolga.
