Abstrak

This study aimed to describe the meaning of denotation and connotation of burangir nahombang.   The approach of the research used qualitative descriptive and the data analysis used data reduction, data presentation, and taking conclusion. 19 Parts was analyzed included burangir simulahata means opening, bentuk masyarakat means society form, susunan masyarakat means society composition, hubungan masyarakat means society relationship, hubungan kekeluargaan means family relationship, namangatur paradaton means  governs custom, martahi siulahon means deliberation event, burangir nohombang dua sarangkap means giving burangir to relatives, mangkobar means giving advice, marontang tu siulahon means invite to the party, lahanan/ landasan ni karejo  means the basics/steps in conducting the event, dalan di sigodang ni roha means an expression of gratitude for being given something that is desired, mangupa daganak tubu means an expression of gratitude for having had offspring, bangun –bangun ni daganak sorang means reviving the spirit of a mother who has given birth, paginjang obuk means shaving her hair, paijur daganak tubu means introducing a baby to the nature, manangko dalan means taking the baby to the market, manjagit parompa means receiving a traditional shawl, and haroan boru means the arrival of the bride at the groom's house-men
