PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE JIGSAW TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA TEKS BERITA SISWA KELAS XI SMK NEGERI 1 ANGKOLA TIMUR

Interviews were conducted with one of Indonesian language teachers and several students at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur, students feel that reading activities were very boring and less interesting, have difficulty concentrating which caused students didn’t understand what they read, and students need a variety of learning models. This study aimd to determine whether there was a significant influence between the jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the students' news texts reading skills at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. This type of research was quantitative by applying one group pretest posttest design. Sample of the research consisted of 21 students which taken by using random sampling technique from 104 students. Data collection used questionnaires and objective tests. The results of the study obtained were 1) the average application of the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 3.18 (good category), 2) the average objective test before using the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 60.52 (enough category), and the average objective test after applying the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 77.42 (good category), and 3) the results of the Wilcoxon test showed Asymp. Signed. (2-tailed) was smaller than 0.05 or (0.000 <0.05). This means that there was a significant influence between the use of the jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the students' news texts reading skills.
