This study aim</em><em>d</em><em> to determine whether there </em><em>was</em><em> a significant influence between the jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the students' news texts reading skills </em><em>at the tenth grade students </em><em>of SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. This type of research </em><em>was</em><em> quantitative </em><em>by applying</em><em> one group pretest posttest design. </em><em>Sample of the research consisted of 21 students which taken by using random sampling technique from 104 students.</em><em> Data collection used questionnaires and objective tests. The results of the study obtained were 1) the average application of the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 3.18 (good category), 2) the average objective test before using </em><em>the </em><em> jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 60.52 (</em><em>enough</em><em> category), and the average objective test after applying the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was 77.42 (good category), and 3) the results of the Wilcoxon test showed Asymp. Signed. (2-tailed) was smaller than 0.05 or (0.000 <0.05).
